OUR HUMBLE BACKSTORY

Adam Thomas and Phil Read hail from Gumlog, a small town nestled in the rolling, wooded hills of northeast Georgia. Despite being born 20 years apart and growing up just two miles from each other, they share a deep connection to this picturesque landscape of small farms, towering pines, and serene mountain lakes. In a place where narrow roads connect tight-knit communities, reputation was everything—long before LinkedIn existed.

Today, Adam and Phil both reside in Charlotte, North Carolina, but the values they learned in Gumlog remain as relevant as ever. They understand that small towns don’t equate to a diminished quality of life, just as small teams don’t equate to a diminished quality of work. Having contributed to some of the world’s most complex and large-scale projects, they’ve come to realize that at the heart of every successful project is a small, dedicated team. With the rise of the internet and BIM technology, much of this impactful work is now being done from small towns just like Gumlog.
